Child to Cherish began with a backyard handprint and a mother’s desire to preserve the moments that matter. Growing up in Whittier, California, Patrice Lowe pressed her little hands into wet cement. Years later, she returned to that childhood home and realized she could not take those handprints with her without cracking the memories she hoped to keep.
In 1987, Patrice created the original child’s handprint kit in a hand-painted tin and introduced it at a Nordstrom buyer meeting with her young sons in tow. That first kit grew into a family business and a collection of hand-painted piggy banks, personalized ornaments, handprint kits, and keepsakes. With her husband Gordon and family alongside her, Patrice has kept one promise at the heart of every piece: help families preserve the innocence of childhood and create memories they can carry with them.
